WILBUR-ELLIS’ WILCON TRADER WINS PRESTIGIOUS RAGAN EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATIONS AWARD

SAN FRANCISCO, CA., – March 15, 2019 – Wilbur-Ellis has been named a winner in Ragan Communications’ 2018 Employee Communications Awards in the magazine category for its Preserving the Legacy with the WilCon Trader campaign.

Ragan Communications and PR Daily run 11 awards programs each year, including the prestigious Digital PR and Social Media Awards, PR Daily Awards, the Intranet Awards and the Video and Visual Awards. Judged by globally recognized experts and featuring multiple categories, these programs honor the top work in communications, PR, marketing and media.

Ragan’s Employee Communications Awards celebrate the teams, organizations and consultants who have redefined the field with their groundbreaking work. As a winner in the program, Wilbur-Ellis joins a group of past winners, including T-Mobile, Hilton, the University of Southern California, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Bacardi Limited, IBM, Make-A-Wish, Ford Motor Company and the New York Power Authority.

Wilbur-Ellis was chosen from a wide pool of entries to receive first prize in the magazine category for the ingenuity and impact of its Preserving the Legacy with the WilCon Trader campaign.

The WilCon Trader has been a quarterly magazine for employees of Wilbur-Ellis since 1947. Although the magazine evolved over the years, management recently determined that the publication needed an overhaul, and the internal communications team decided to reinvent the print magazine. The redesign was focused on striking a balance between business news and more personal content, producing a new design that would attract readers and invite reading, creating online and offline components to keep a story alive over time while also creating opportunities for interaction and maintaining the strategy of employees originating content.

“Out of many outstanding submissions, we found Wilbur-Ellis’ work to truly set a new standard of excellence for all corporate communications professionals. We congratulate them and look forward to seeing their future successes in this field,” said Justine Figueroa, senior marketing coordinator for awards programs at Ragan Communications.

“It was an honor for the WilCon Trader to win this award,” said Katherine Fordon, corporate communications director at Wilbur-Ellis. “Our employees, current and past, look forward to each issue and we’re all very proud of the hard work the team puts into producing this magazine.”

Wilbur-Ellis’ win was announced via social media, and the winning team was also recognized for its accomplishment in a special write-up on Ragan’s internationally read news website.
